Kidney Patient Associations

Our Kidney Patient Associations

Kidney Patient Associations are members and the Council of the National Kidney Federation. They provide support for kidney patients on a local level. They are charities in their own right and they are often located in hospital renal units.

The main purpose of a KPA is to support local patients either pre-dialysis, dialysis or transplanted and they are also there to support their families and loved ones in any way they can.

The National Kidney Federation was formed in 1979 and the KPA’s became the controlling Council of the NKF and still are today. KPAs are the eyes and ears to what is going on and for the NKF to fight their case for better treatment nationally. KPAs are the go between renal groups and feeding back information to their patients.
