A Transplant is Precious

"My name is Anjanaben Bipinchandra Patel. I was diagnosed with kidney failure in march 1994 and I was on dialysis for five years. One morning at 4.45am on 18th March 1999, I received a phone call from the hospital that a kidney had become available and that I was a match. We rushed to the hospital and passed a series of tests. The team decided at 2.30pm that they would carry out the transplant procedure. That day changed my life.

I was off dialysis, the restrictions with food and drink were gone, and I felt much better. After reaching the 25 years of this milestone, I wish to thank God and a special thanks to the entire renal department at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, as well as my loving husband who looks after me. My message to everyone who has received a transplant is to look after that precious transplant. A transplant is the most precious gift."
