KPA Day 2022 The NKF’s online KPA Day event took place on Saturday 9th April 2022. The event was a success with many KPA’s represented. The NKF would like to thank everyone for attending.We would also like to thank our guest speakers including: NKF Chairman, Jim Higgins, Chair of the KPA Support Group, David Coyle, NKF Honorary President, Kirit Modi, NKF Helpline Advisor, Stephen Emmerson and Renal Transformation Programme guests Neil Ashman, Ahmad Saleem Ullah and Nitin Kohle. Below are some key highlights from the day: How the NKF will be supporting KPAs going forwardThe first speaker was David Coyle on what support the NKF will bring to KPAs, including existing and new types of support available. David also discussed recent activity that has been happening with KPAs including setting up regional KPA forums and webinars. Renal Services Transformation Programme (RSTP) updateNeil Ashman, Ahmad Saleem Ullah and Nitin Kolhe were guest speakers from RSTP, gave an update on the Renal Services Transformation Programme including the need to change to improve patients experience and living well with chronic disease and its potential benefits to the system. They also discussed their programme's aim, approach and impact on patients and service users. Nitin also gave an update regarding patients with acute kidney injury (AKI). NKF Peer Support Service updateStephen Emmerson, NKF Helpline Advisor gave a presentation on how the NKF Peer Support Service has been going since the launch in September 2021 including the amount of volunteers that are now peer supporters and how many patients have contacted the service. Home Dialysis Campaign updateKirit Modi, NKF Honorary President gave an insight into the Home Dialysis Campaign with a discussion on the initial Home Dialysis Report and the One Year On Report, the impact of COVID-19 and the overall progress that has been made based on 2020 data.
