Policy Statements - PAYMENT OF MILEAGE TO AND FROM DIALYSIS - PRIVATE MOTOR VEHICLES

Passed by the NKF 14th January 2012

The National Kidney Federation believes that all eligible haemodialysis patients and their partners under the criteria of the NHS Travel Costs Scheme (HTCS), who use their own transport to travel to and from dialysis get the full estimated cost of fuel actually used in making the journey. The mileage rates should be set at a level no lower than the advisory fuel rates specified by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) for company cars. The Federation will work to achieve this across the UK for all haemodialysis patients who provide their own transport, irrespective of their eligibility under HTCS.
