Before you host your tea and coffee fundraiser

  • Firstly, choose a date and venue, the venue can be the comfort of your own home or even your local village hall. If you’re using a public space, check if you need any licences.
  • Make sure you are ‘event ready’ do you have a checklist of who is attending, have you pushed the word out on your social media platforms and downloaded our Tea and Coffee Morning Poster?
  • Ideas – think about how to make the most of your fundraiser to raise as much money as possible. Why not theme your baked goods blue and orange to match the NKF logo? Do you need NKF Helpline information leaflets to spread the word on all things ‘kidney’?
  • Promote –Make sure all your friends and family are aware of your fundraiser. If you’re having a party for your local community, get in touch with your local newspaper or radio station. We’d love to hear about your community event – let us know what you’re up to by emailing [email protected]
  • Help from your community – as it’s for charity, maybe your local bakery or supermarket would donate some baked goods? It’s worth asking!
  • Set up a JustGiving page —the easy way to fundraise. Friends can support you whenever and wherever, by donating securely on JustGiving and they can also gift aid their donation if they meet the criteria. For more information on how to set up your own JustGiving page please visit.

During your fundraiser

  • Why not capture the moment? If you have the time, take photos and videos of your fundraiser, this is a great way to inspire others to join in to raise money. We’d love to see how your party goes too – send us your photos and videos along with a little description about how it went to [email protected].
  • Fundraising – include fun activities and competitions like ‘guess the weight of the cake’ or host a bake off and have guests vote for their favourite. Why not see if local businesses will donate some prizes? It is a charity event!

Useful tips

  • Food and drink – as you’re likely to be selling treats it is essential to label things for allergens. Head over to the Food Standards Agency for further advice.
  • Be considerate of those who are undergoing dialysis. They might not be able to eat or drink everything.
  • Social media – Let us know what you’re up to! Set up a Facebook event page and let us know how your fundraising activity is going with regular updates – remember to tag us so we can see what you’re up to and say thank you!
