Patients demand the right to be given the choice to Dialyse at home

Following a debate by 300 kidney patients at the NKF(National Kidney Federation) annual conference in Leicestershire on Saturday (12/10/13) they voted almost unanimously ( three votes against ) to demand that “Home Dialysis  be offered as an option of choice for all suitable patients”

This very clear patient mandate follows NICE guidance that says that the NHS should expand Dialysis at home, and a “Summit report” issued by the All Party Parliamentary Kidney Group in March arguing the same case.

An NKF spokesman added “This delay in all dialysis centres  offering genuine choice of Home Dialysis is costing the NHS money, and preventing many patients from experiencing a better quality of life as a kidney patient on life saving dialysis “
