The Royal Free Organ Donation Committee held a conference at Tottenham within the black community which was the first of its kind and wanted to share.
It is also the first in a series of conferences that the Royal Free Organ Donation Committee intends to put on to motivate and educate the communities served by the Royal Free London where those communities have shown the lowest level of signing up to the organ register.
Their report shows how they went about creating the conference, what they learnt from the exercise, what they though went right and what things could have been done better. At the end of the day, their conference was successful and their team was enthusiastic at the responses and all wish to be involved in more events.
The Royal Free ODC - chaired by David Myers who is a governor of the Royal Free London NHS - will be happy to discuss with any members of KPA’s or Organ Donation Committees, with a view to lending their experiences so that other organisations can put on their own events effectively.
