NKF is very pleased that the first evaluation report on the Community Investment Scheme has been published by NHSBT here . NKF has led on addressing challenges facing BAME kidney patients for many years, starting with the publication of the BAME Manifesto for change in 2011 here. NKF is a founding member of the National BAME Transplant Alliance ( NBTA). This new report highlights how twenty-five BAME community groups, with appropriate support, can lead on promoting organ donation in their communities.

Kirit Modi, NKF President said:

" I want to congratulate all twenty-five BAME community groups on the remarkable work they have done. The Community Investment Scheme is now well established as an effective way of empowering BAME communities to promote organ donation. The second round of the Scheme also has twenty-five BAME groups undertaking this work at present. The NKF will, of course, continue to work in partnership with others to highlight issues affecting BAME kidney patients ".
