The following was been sent to all NKF Members in March 2005, however, everyone is welcome to download the Questionnaire (as explained below) and send it to prospective Parliamentary Candidates in the (expected) forthcoming General Election.
(NB: If you have difficulty downloading the Questionnaire, please click here for further information on how to download PDF files).
Dear Friend,
The National Kidney Federation is very keen to know which of the candidates standing in the next General Election actively supports kidney patients and their carers.
We have devised a very short questionnaire about the issues that we would like the candidates to complete, but we need your help. Candidates will probably only reply when the person asking is one of his or her own constituents - with a vote to give or withhold.
From this webpage you can download a copy of the questionnaire (PDF, 16 Kb, 2 pages). We ask you to print out 3 copies, fill in your own name and address in the top box on each form then, once this is done, we ask you to post each questionnaire separately to the three main party candidates standing for election in your own constituency.
If you don’t like the idea of forms and would prefer to write your own letter then do, but please try and ask the same questions as on the form in your letter. If you enclosed a self-addressed envelope candidates are much more likely to reply.
Please do this as soon as you know the candidates names and where you can contact them. This information can be gained from local newspapers, from election literature and once the election has started, from the returning officer at your local (Borough or City) council office. It does not matter if you send the communications straight away or during the election campaign itself – but do please send them.
When the replies are received, please note the answers for your own information, but also, most importantly, forward the replies to us at the following address: - National Kidney Federation, Replies, 6 Stanley Street, Worksop, Notts – S81 7HX
We are trying to gather answers from all the main candidates, however, because patients and carers are not evenly spread throughout the UK, there is a high probability that you are the only contact we have to undertake this task in your particular constituency. So please do not leave it to someone else.
In our opinion this is a great opportunity for NKF members (and others) to take advantage of the coming election and influence possible MPs for the benefit of all kidney patients and their carers in the future. Thank you for your time and effort in helping the NKF to conduct this vital fact finding survey.
Yours sincerely,
Michael Hill, Gary Lloyd
Chairmen
