Results of the NKF Anaemia Survey - August 2004Renal services are currently undergoing considerable re-organisation following the publication of several documents including the Renal National Service Framework. As a part of these changes, NICE (the National Institute for Clinical Excellence) is to review the way Anaemia is being treated in kidney patients. This review of the Anaemia guidelines for renal patients could have major implications for our members and because of this, the NKF has registered as a stakeholder during this review in order to ensure that the renal patients voice is heard. As a first step in preparing the NKF case, the Federation sent out 19,000 survey forms to its patient members via the Kidney Life magazine. More than 2,000 patients replied. The results have been analysed, turned into a “Power Point” presentation (Slide Show) and sent to NICE (Click here to view the NKF’s submission to NICE) as part of the NKF submission. If you have Microsoft Power Point on your computer, you can view this presentation from this NKF website (see below for more details). The NKF is grateful to ROCHE for their sponsorship and assistance with this project. To view the results of the NKF’s Anaemia Survey 2004(NB you will need Microsoft PowerPoint or a compatible program such as OpenOffice Presenter on your computer to open this file, however, there are PowerPoint Viewers available free from the Microsoft website - see below. Also, as these are relatively large file, it is recommended that you use a fast/broadband connection to download them).
