NHS Dental Treatment for Renal Patients

If you are having difficulty obtaining Dental Treatment under the NHS, then here are some helpful guidelines:-

• The best way to access an NHS dentist that you can visit, is to ring your local Primary Care Trust (PCT) or if in Wales your Local Health Board (LHB). They have the responsibility to commission care for the patients they serve.
• Primary Care Trusts can be contacted by phone. Contact details can be found by consulting either:-
1. Business Section of Phone Book under “Health Service” or
2. Yellow Pages under “Health Authorities & Services” and ask for the Dental Department.

Contacting the Primary Care Trust or equivalent is the best way to access to an NHS dentist. They will also be able to advise patients who may have special needs requiring treatment through the salaried primary care dental services.

Useful dental information websites are www.dentalhealth.org and www.bdasmile.org.

Additionally, the British Dental Health Foundation (who are responsible for www.dentalhealth.org) also have a telephone helpline for patients.
